The Alaska Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP) was created more than 50 years ago to be a  unified voice for law enforcement executives to work together to improve the criminal justice system in Alaska.

Open to members representing private sector security, municipal, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, and members of the Alaska Court System, AACOP strives toward its founders' ideals. We work together from a broad array of perspectives to achieve a common goal: improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Alaska criminal justice system in general and law enforcement in particular. We do this through networking, training, mentoring new Chiefs and Commanders, promoting departmental best practices, and working with the executive, judicial, and legislative branches of state government to evaluate pending legislation to ensure it will serve the needs of justice
