Chief Mark Robl moved to Homer in 1983 after a four year tour of duty with the US Navy in Adak Ak. He was hired as a patrol officer in 1984 and was promoted to chief in 1999. Chief Robl attended the DPS academy in Sitka and numerous law enforcement training courses throughout his career. He holds an Associate’s Degree, an advanced certificate from APSC and is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute, 93rd Administrative Officers course. Chief Robl is a member of the Alaska Association of Chiefs of Police, the Alaska Peace Officers Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Southern Police Institutes Alumni Association.

The chief is a private pilot and loves to fly his supercub throughout the state. He is an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoys outdoor recreation of all types. He and his wife Teri have been married for 27 years. They are building their third home together and plan to live in Homer for many years to come.
