Deputy Chief Audie Holloway began his career in law enforcement in 1980. He had applied for both Anchorage Police Department and Alaska State Troopers, but APD called with a job first. Since that time, he has worked in many parts of the department and even though a job a deputy chief is certainly important and challenging, he believes that some of his most enjoyable and personally productive efforts were as a patrol officer specializing in neighborhood crack house investigations. He now tends to spend his time on trying to build productive and efficient systems within the police department, planning for growth and expansion, and preparing the up-and-coming supervisors and officers to take on greater responsibilities. He is adamant in his belief that the officers of today are the chiefs and commanders of tomorrow and that no opportunity should be missed to infuse officers with a sense of duty.
The Anchorage Police Department is experiencing a period of growth and revitalization. Daily efforts are directed at keeping operations running positively with minimum staff while waiting to hire and train enough new officers and other employees to aggressively pursue police responses to the priorities set by the citizens of Anchorage . This includes more and better traffic law enforcement, increased investigations of narcotics and vice-related crimes, greater staffing in all sections of the detective division, and an increased patrol officer presence in Anchorage neighborhoods.
DC Holloway earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and is working on an additional degree in biology. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy . He is a board member of AWAIC and remains active in issues related to drug and alcohol abuse.
