The City of Seward is hiring a Patrol Officer Recruit. This is a regular, full-time position with benefits, paying $19.41/hr. This position is responsible for conducting patrols; enforcing ordinances, codes, and laws; conducting traffic enforcement; investigating calls for possible violation of laws; questioning victims, suspects, and witnesses; collecting evidence; and arresting and transporting prisoners. Requirements include: Must be 21 years of age; possession of or ability to obtain a valid State of Alaska driver's license; high school diploma or GED; ability to become certified through Alaska Peace Officer Standards Council; college credit in criminal justice preferred though not required. Successful applicant will be required to pass the selection process' extensive physical, medical, psychological, and polygraph examinations in addition to a background investigation and drug screening. Those standards applied for selections shall be not less than the Basic Standards for Police Officer established by the Alaska Police Standards Council.
