
Sheldon Schmitt graduated from Minnesota State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science. He graduated Magna Cum Laude, Phi Kappa Phi, and with other honors. He has about ten years of law enforcement experience. He has over five years of police related supervisory experience including Police Sergeant for the North Slope Borough Police Department, Police Chief for the village of Togiak Alaska Police Department, and Lieutenant in charge of Operations for the last two years at the Sitka Police Department, under Chief Robert Gorder He holds an advanced certificate from the Alaska Police Standards Council, and is currently enrolled in the University of Alaska Masters Program in Criminal Justice. He recently completed the National Academy at Quantico. Sheldon is married and has three children under the age of seven.
