 Chief John Papasodora has been a resident of Alaska for over 50 years, and a law enforcement officer for over 29 years. He holds dual baccalaureate degrees in Justice and History earned through the University of Alaska and a certificate from the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officer’s Course. Chief Papasodora started law enforcement in1985 as a patrol officer with the Soldotna Police Department. In 1990, Chief Papasodora joined the Alaska Department of Public Safety and served as an Alaska State Trooper, achieving the rank of Captain, Commander of the Alaska Bureau of Investigation. He retired from AST in 2009 to assume the position of Chief of Police for the City of Nome. Chief Papasodora has worked cases in nearly every area of the State of Alaska and has diverse exposure to the issues affecting Alaska and its people.
