Chief of Police, Petersburg, Alaska (pop. 3,273). Salary range $70,000 to $95,000. The Borough of Petersburg, Alaska is seeking an engaging, collaborative, civic-minded and strong leader to become the next Chief of Police. Petersburg, known as Alaska’s Little Norway, is located among the forested islands and mountains of southeast Alaska’s beautiful Inside Passage.
The ideal candidate for the Chief position possess a solid educational background and experience with small town policing, demonstrated ability in leading teams, and building and maintaining the relationships within the community and other law enforcement and governmental agencies.
Specific Requirements
BA Degree in Public Safety preferred and have a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a municipal setting.
Additionally, candidates should have knowledge and /or experience in the following areas: Preventive and proactive measures in law enforcement, specifically in areas of domestic violence and abuse, and drugs and narcotics. DARE programs and other community education outreach.
