Why Support AACOP's Mission?
Criminal Justice agencies across Alaska have a rich tradition of joining together in their efforts to keep our communities safe and guarantee our citizens' security and quality of life. Alaskan Law Enforcement agencies efficiently and effectively work together, unlike other regions of the United States. We could use your support in our efforts to promote this tradition and assure it continues.
The Alaska Association of Chiefs of Police was established as a non-profit corporation in 1956 to promote this collaboration through the exchange of information and the sharing of limited resources.
Today, AACOP provides technical assistance to criminal justice agencies, hosting of shared law enforcement information technology systems, executive level training for public safety officials, and educates government officials on matter related to criminal justice.
Operating shared systems and collaborating on training events is most cost effective for law enforcement and saves limited community and agency resources. However, even shared systems can be costly to operate and maintain. AACOP members support these systems through their dues and through modest user fees. AACOP receives no government funding for their operation, administration or maintenance, yet they provide vital tools for agencies in their efforts to keep your community safe. We welcome your support in helping reduce the cost of these efforts to public safety agencies and to expand our systems to additional agencies.
For additional information on the scope and nature of these systems please refer to our "Our Programs" page.
All are welcome to become members of AACOP and to help support its important mission. Annual Sustaining Membership is available to the general public for an annual contribution of $100.00. Of course, we would welcome any contribution to AACOP that you feel appropriate, should this level of support not fit your budget.
Thank you for considering supporting the important mission of the AACOP.
